“Sarao” gala ’76

“Sarao” gala ’76

Staged recreation of a traditional ball where the actors are the musicians and animators of the party, and the whole audience “acts” by dancing.

A king established the republic of festivals and having fun, issuing absurd commands, forcing everyone to have fun and to dance. The situation arrives at such an extreme that both the public and the actors are obliged to get rid of him.

The first time that the staged space and the theatrical space are brought together, so that the audience was completely integrated in the action of the play. The numbers that made up the structure of the show evolved until a single dramatic thread was presented at the Venice Carnival in 1981.
