Comedy opera in two acts. Music by Gioacchino Rossini and libretto by Cesare Sterbini, based on the comedy by the same name (1775) by Pierre-Agustín de Beaumarchais.
A count and his fiancée (Almaviva and Rosina) go through different comic circumstances in life before their marriage. They are helped by a barber (Fígaro) and many absurd complications arise until the final resolution (their wedding).
Characters: Fígaro (barber), Don Bartolo (doctor, Rosina’s tutor), Rosina (young orphan), Count of Almaviva (noble), Fiorello (Almaviva’s servant), Don Basilio (Don Bartolo’s servant (Berta)’s music teacher).
